today is a pretty sad day..

Today is a pretty sad day to wake up and find out about this. As of now, there have been 10 blasts with terrorists targeting foreign tourists in the city of Mumbai as well as common civilians. They went on a rampage in two luxury hotels and have randomly killed up to 78 people and even have foreign hostages within the Taj hotel. Why do people get motivated to kill others? I don’t understand this. Tell me why do people do this? What is their motive? Are people filled with so much hate? Foreignors will be afraid to come to this country and help our economy especially with economic slumps occurring recently all across the world. We are only shooting ourself in the foot if there are citizens of India out there that support the terrorist effort and think this is a good thing. It’s very sad and frustrating to think such illogical rash people with so much hate, are the ones representing our country across the news all over the world right now. It’s a shame to be an Indian right now. As far as the latest update, they think its a Muslim terrorist group. I am tired of Hindu-Muslim fighting. Im tired of the bloodshed. All over the world in fact.

I was brought up as a Hindu, For 12 years I spent my whole childhood living next to a Muslim family in the US, and they treated my family like one of their own. I turned out just fine, normal and unprejudiced against Muslims! Sure they had their habits at times which were completely different from what I was brought up with. Like going during their set times to pray and do Namaaz, and not eating pork. So many times my sister and I would go over to their house waiting for my friends to come out and play. My friend’s mother would tell us they were praying and would come out as soon as they were finished. I secretly used to love coming over at a time like this because I would sit quietly in the room they were doing Namaaz and gaze at them praying. I was so raptured and fascinated by the beautiful movements…the turning of the head, the bowing down and touching the forehead to the ground, the stray whisper of prayer under their breath, the closing of the eyes, the look of pure devotion on their faces. It really is magical to watch if you’ve ever seen someone do Namaaz.  Inspite of our cultural differences we were best friends that lived happily next door to each other for many years. I truly consider them as a key factor to my happy childhood. Their doors were always open for my family as our doors were for them.

Why can’t we respect each other and co exist? I don’t think there’s a country out there not fighting with someone else, marred by terrorism or genocide. Whether it’s the Irish and Scottish , Isrealis and Palestineans, Hindus and Muslims, Blacks and Whites, the fighting between African tribes, the list just goes on… what corner of our country is free from racial, social and cultural prejudice?I really believe this quote by Bill Hicks describes my feelings perfectly and my disgust with our world being consumed with so much hatred: “I’m tired of this back-slapping “Isn’t humanity neat?” bullshit. We’r e a virus with shoes, okay? That’s all we are.”   Why cant we live in peace and respect the next person’s belief?  As my last words on this issue,  I pray for the families out there affected by this disaster, I pray for those fighting the terrorists, I pray for the terrorists that they will be able see their wrong and mend their ways and for the hatred and bloodshed to stop. and last of all I pray for the one and most important thing which every country needs: Peace.

Comments Please!!

So I finally kicked my butt into gear and found a skin worthy of changing my profile completely. It’s sassy and cute.  (That’s what WO-Man power’s all about!). Let me tell ya its a shit load of work but I am proud to say I am learning code (html) at work, today was my second day of fooling around with it and I figured out how to format some cool layout on my blog. I’m trying to fiddle around with other stuff so it’s not exactly how i want. As you can see the side gutters of my profile are completely naked  but Im trying to experiment with the code to fix stuff slowly and fine tune it just the way I want it. This reminds me of slowly fine tuning an acoustic or something. by testing, mixing, experimenting you eventually get it right. I also figured out a way that people can leave drawings in my comment box when they feel like getting creative and artistic. By the way I believe in sharing so if you want some codeeee lemme knowww (hey that rhymes!) I know I’m being corny now but Im just so happy about figuring something out of this code out. Ive been fiddling around with this and fairly a newbie. So this is like a eureka moment for me, God bless Einstein’s soul. Lol… Please let me know what you think of my new layout and any feedback (please be frank)  is welcome!!! Sorry not blogging much since I have been working on the layout… Will be blogging sooon….  this light is turned off.

office party

Man, my weekend turned out to be really nice. As soon as I get off work on Friday is when my weekend starts and the fact that there was a team house party on Friday evening everyone was pretty pumped. I hadnt been to a party in a while just cuz I’ve been too busy lazing around and catching the random cat nap instead but I was geared up for this one. My friend and  I got to the party and basically made the dead party that it was come to life. We didnt care what people thought, we turned on the music and hit the floor and danced like there was no tomorrow. Sure we caught plenty of stares, being the first ones on the floor you’re going to have to deal with that always. But when people realised we didnt give a flying F*CK (scuse the lang) They actually started feeling left out and wanted to join in on our fun so the whole party joined us on the floor dancing the night away. As corny as this sounds, with exercise not being as big a part of my life as I want it to be dancing after a long time and knowing that it burns calories made me feel like dancing more. My friends and I rocked the floor for about 4 hours straight as song after song kept playing on. It helped having a DJ that was playing the music. His name was Felix. He was this majumbo of an african guy scary to look at but cool to talk to. Amazing collection of tracks. He had this trancy kind of music which had beautifully mixed in with some of the newer R&B songs which made them pretty amazing. For once hindi music did not hijack the party and make it stupid. Sure I love my share of desi music when Im in the mood but not when I’m DANCIN’!!! The party was actually held at this really phat apartment and it was huge, and pretty amazing. But with so many people drinking and dancing, the place had become a mess. I wanted to chill out after way loads of dancing and sober up a little of course for the drive home. (Yes I’m a responsible drinker!!) and so the mile high load of plates my friend and I started washing and cleaning the kitchen up. We did that till the whole place was clean. You would have never guessed that a junglee group of dancers, drinkers, and party people were even there to make chaos. The only tell tale sign that remained of the party was the sticky floor… But it was a crazy whack party and a lot of fun. One guy on our team was passed out drunk in the spare bedroom and had puked all over the floor. Was I glad I was not in his shoes! Since my friend and I were so busy cleaning we didnt really get to eat so my friend’s hubby, my friend and I, all three of us went to the railway station to a place called CUM-SUM (I know weird name!) which is the only place open 24/7 for food. Most people go there after a late night partying after the munchies kick in since thats the only place open. And you get decently yummy food. On the way to CUM SUM we witnessed a guy on his bike having a nasty accident. He was okay cuz he was wearing a helmet. But he was mad drunk. I just dont get why people are so dumb. You want to get toasted drunk sleep over at a friend’s place or have a designated driver that can drop you home who hasnt been drinking. I get so pissed off with people like that. First of all when they have an accident they scare the hell out of me. (Which I was when I saw it) and secondly they can hurt someone else!! Anyways at CUM SUM We had a delicious chicken biryani and some chicken fried rice and then headed for home. My friends were nice enough to tag along with me more than halfway to my house even though they lived in the complete opposite direction since they were worried I was on my activa alone. When I got home I was still excited from the whole night even though I knew my body would love to plonk off to sleep in a second, so I just washed up, got into something comfy for bed and ended my night with watching the late night episode of Sex & The City on tv and Grey’s Anatomy. (I love that show, and I cry every time)  Anywho it’s Monday now and the buzz of the weekend I can already hear it fading. So here’s to the beginning of another week and hope that its just as fun filled and entertaining as the last one! This light is turned off.

blog research

I do blog research as a part of my job. So I’d like to think I’m pamperedly (I don’t think that’s a word but it makes sense to me ) blessed that I get paid for looking at and reading blogs. (Sometimes I browse through blogs that Im not supposed to be researching about and completely off topic but its so sinfully fun!!) So anyways I reading the umpteenth blog about my sexy Obama (oh yeah you heard me,  he’s mine girls) decided to blog about him myself. I always enjoy looking for a pic to display when Im writing about him and I came across this pic of him which I lovvvvvved. He’s hot in any angle but the caption made me fall off my chair laughin. Considering how old McCain is (he’s in his 70′s) and the fact that he might die while in office… and then Sarah Palin stepping into office as president…. YIKESSSS!! First of all it would be a disgrace for me personally to have her representing the first female President of America, 2ndly she would kill our country. Yes she would. She would completely destroy it with her sporadic dumb hicktown knowledge which she thinks is cute but actually pathetic. And she’s a republican that would be worse and do terrible horrible things than George W Bush ever did. Compared to Sarah Palin, George W Bush is harmless. Trust me. Anyways, I gotta scat now. My weekend is herrrre!!!! Enjoy, This light is turned off.

Which Guinness World Record would you love to set or break?

Being able to know the most lyrics by heart. A lot of people have told me I know a lot of lyrics as it is. It would be kind of nice to have it as an official Guinness talent! Or having read a set of encyclopedias the most number of times (that way I will keep on learning and be even more smarter than I already am!)

I’m happy to write that Obama did win

I’m happy to write that Obama did win. It was so worth taking the time to send an overseas ballot to vote for him because he’s the change not just America as my country needs but we all need. And he’s smart and realistic and I have faith he can do it. I am proud to say I voted for the first Afro-American president and will be overjoyed to tell my kids and grand kids one day in the future about this. For the first time America felt like voting and did vote, not just because it was something you should do but because they wanted to. This light is turned off.
